I bought a lot of Altoids and gum to have something to chew on in the car. We build up a lot of psychological connections or triggers which the brain interprets as "wouldn't it be nice to inhale from a vape right now." For me that is using a computer or driving (so, about 2/3 of my waking hours, realistically). The bigger question is do you expect to be vaping until your dying day? If not, you will have to go through that withdrawal eventually. On the psychological side, withdrawal is not any bigger of a deal than you make of it. By around 72 hours after quitting, those symptoms had gone away.Ĭompared to other drugs like alcohol, the physical aspect of nicotine withdrawal is pretty trivial - barely noticeable, actually. I was spending easily $100/month on juice, plus however much for tank replacements, stuff that would break randomly, etc etc. People will not trust you because you are doing something bad to yourself and lack self-control. Whether it's being a drunk, or smoker, or heroin addict. This will have career effects that you may never notice but they are real.īeing addicted to any substance hurts your credibility with serious people. The (accurate) stereotype of vapers as either highschoolers or overweight nerds is persistent. People may be too polite to say anything but it looks fucking stupid. Social effects: You WILL be judged for vaping. Only reasonable answer is "we don't know, exactly." Do you really want to be a guinea pig that they study later, to decide whether vaping takes 25 years off your life or just 5? Logically, inhaling a bunch of flavor compounds and other stuff that is "food grade" (whatever that means?) but never tested or certified for safety in your lungs CANNOT be good for you. My fingers and toes would lose circulation and feel painful - because nicotine constricts blood vessels.

Health effects: personally I had a persistent cough, dry throat, and got colds more readily (I'm glad I quit before the whole COVID thing started). But that doesn't mean that vaping is good - it just isn't killing you quite as quickly. I think the vaping "movement" has built up a whole bunch of mistaken beliefs aimed at downplaying the harm of their chosen bad habit. I'm writing this in hopes other people find it helpful too. I don't have cravings, it doesn't really even enter my mind anymore. From extremely high nicotine content vaping all day, down to nothing. I vaped very, very heavily for about 5 years and quit cold-turkey a few months ago.
